Molemo ‘Jub Jub’ Maarohanye arrested following alleged kidnapping of e-hailing driver

The 45-year-old faces charges of kidnapping, discharging a firearm in a public place and defeating the ends of justice.

Well-known TV host Molemo ‘Jub Jub’ Maarohanye was arrested on charges of kidnapping, discharging a firearm in a public place and defeating the ends of justice following an incident involving an e-hailing driver in Edenvale on June 14.

It is alleged that at about 07:30, the driver had transported a woman to a residence in Edenvale when he was confronted by a Maarohanye, who accused him of having a romantic relationship with his girlfriend.

According to reports, Maarohanye forced the driver into his vehicle and prevented him from leaving. During the incident, Maarohanye allegedly discharged a firearm in the driver’s direction.

The driver managed to escape unharmed and immediately drove to a nearby police station to report the matter.

Police spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko said officers acted swiftly and arrested Maarohanye shortly after the incident.

Investigations are ongoing.

Maarohanye is expected to appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court on June 17.
