TV star released on bail for alleged kidnapping of e-hailing driver
Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye has been granted R5 000 bail after his arrest over allegations of kidnapping, firearm discharge and defeating the ends of justice in Edenvale.
Molemo Maarohanye, popularly known as Jub Jub, was granted bail on June 16.
This follows an incident that occurred on June 14, when the 45-year-old star was arrested on charges of kidnapping, discharging a firearm in a public place and defeating the ends of justice, involving an e-hailing driver.
The incident took place in Edenvale, where Maarohanye allegedly accused the victim of having a romantic relationship with his girlfriend. He then allegedly forced the driver into his vehicle, prevented him from leaving, and discharged a firearm in the driver’s direction.

The suspect was released on R5 000 bail by the Gauteng Division of the High Court in Johannesburg following an urgent application brought before the court.
In a statement released by the NPA, it was stated that Maarohanye raised concerns regarding the delay in his appearance before the Germiston Magistrate’s Court on June 15, 2026, and sought his release on bail pending his first court appearance.
The matter was postponed to June 2 in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court for further investigation.
