Two arrested after Uber driver robbed in Eldorado Park; one linked to attempted murder charges
Police recovered a cellphone believed to have been stolen from an Uber driver during a robbery in Eldorado Park Ext 1.
Members of the Eldorado Park SAPS Crime Prevention Unit, together with Gauteng Traffic Wardens, arrested two men in connection with the robbery and intimidation of an Uber driver on July 14.
According to preliminary information, the driver was robbed of his cellphones by two men in Eldorado Park Ext 1. The men allegedly threatened to kill the victim if he reported the incident to police.
Eldorado Park SAPS media liaison officer Sergeant Fezeka Khobo said, based on the description provided by the victim, officers traced the men to Eldorado Park Ext 3.
She said the men fled in different directions after noticing the police, but both were apprehended.
Khobo added that police established one of the men was wanted in connection with two outstanding attempted murder cases linked to incidents in Eldorado Park Ext 1.

“The second suspect was found in possession of a cellphone. When asked to unlock the device, the suspect was unable to provide the PIN. Police said the phone’s profile picture matched the description provided by the complainant, and it is believed to be one of the devices stolen during the robbery,” she said.
Khobo said the suspect was arrested for possession of suspected stolen property and detained at the Eldorado Park SAPS holding cells while investigations continue. He is expected to appear in court soon.
