Flying Squad recovers stolen grader, arrests suspect in stolen Toyota Quantum
Officers acted on intelligence to locate abandoned construction equipment and detain a 30-year-old man during separate investigations across Midrand and southern Johannesburg.
Two Johannesburg Flying Squad operations resulted in the recovery of a stolen Bell grader and a Toyota Quantum, with one suspect arrested.
According to Johannesburg Flying Squad media liaison Raymond Sambo, officers were conducting routine patrols when they received information about a yellow Bell grader that had been stolen during a robbery in Muldersdrift at about 15:30 on August 3.
Members followed up on the information and proceeded to the corner of Poplar Street in the Blue Hills plots in Midrand, where they recovered the abandoned grader.

“The grader was booked into the SAPS pound for safekeeping while further investigations continue,” Sambo said.
In a separate incident, Flying Squad members received information about a white Toyota Quantum that had been robbed in Jabulani at about 03:30 on August 4.
Officers traced the vehicle to the corner of South and East roads in Rewlatch, where they found it with one occupant inside.
“A 30-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle and detained at Moffatview SAPS for further investigation,” Sambo said.

The recovered vehicle was also booked into the SAPS pound for safekeeping.
The suspect is expected to appear in the relevant magistrate’s court soon.
