Kidnapped man rescued and five arrested in Gauteng
A 38-year-old man was rescued unharmed in Randfontein after an intelligence-driven investigation into his kidnapping and a ransom demand led to five arrests.
A man who was allegedly kidnapped in Johannesburg CBD was rescued unharmed during a multi-disciplinary operation on October 4.
The man was allegedly kidnapped on August 30 after which a ransom of two million dollars was demanded for his release.
A team comprising Johannesburg Central detectives, Crime Intelligence, the Anti-Kidnapping Team, Flying Squad and private security companies immediately launched an investigation to locate the victim and identify those responsible.

According to a police statement, the investigation also led to the arrest of three men.
The suspects were allegedly found in possession of the cellphone used to contact the victim’s family to demand the ransom.
Further investigations led police to a plot in Randfontein, where the victim was located and safely rescued.
Two additional suspects were arrested at the premises.
All five suspects are expected to face charges of kidnapping and extortion.
The investigation is continuing.
