Soweto man’s murder case postponed over legal representation
The Johannesburg High Court postponed Zwelibanzi Nkosi’s case as issues surrounding his legal representation remain unresolved.
The Johannesburg High Court has postponed the case against Zondi resident Zwelibanzi Nkosi to October 14, as issues surrounding his legal representation remain unresolved.
Nkosi addressed the presiding judge during proceedings after reportedly refusing two Legal Aid representatives who had been made available to him.
The State told the court it was unable to secure Judicare funding for Nkosi due to financial constraints.

He now faces a decision on whether to continue with Legal Aid representation or secure private legal representation.
Nkosi’s representative and Legal Aid are expected to provide the court with feedback on the way forward.
Nkosi faces charges in connection with the alleged murder of his live-in partner, Noluthando Mnyandu, a gender-based violence officer and former employee in the office of the Gauteng MEC for Community Safety.

Mnyandu was fatally shot at Jabulani Hostel in December 2024 following an alleged argument over money.
Nkosi is accused of shooting her multiple times.
He also faces a separate charge of pointing a firearm.
