Police vow arrests after Orlando West violence
Police probe the torching of 10 vehicles and the looting of shops in Orlando West as violence breaks out following ConCourt ruling about asylum seekers.
Acting National Police Commissioner General Puleng Dimpane has vowed to identify and arrest those responsible for the outbreak of violence in Orlando West yesterday (October 8).
Speaking in Soweto last night, Dimpane said those responsible would be arrested where sufficient evidence was found.

She emphasised that police would not tolerate violence, property damage or attacks on people, and appealed to communities to remain calm.
“Concerns about asylum seekers should be addressed through lawful and constitutional processes,” she said.
“The South African Police Service is coordinating its response across affected areas, while the Crime Intelligence Division has been instructed to work around the clock to identify those behind the incidents,” she concluded.
