CoJ kicks off a swimming season

Swimming pools will operate between Tuesdays to Fridays, you can swim from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Joburg residents can look forward to an exciting swimming season as the City of Johannesburg’s Public Swimming Pools will kick off the 2023/2024 Swimming Season as of September 1.

18 pools across different communities in the city of Johannesburg will be reopening in the new month, to welcome Spring Day.

A further 18 swimming pools where upgrading is currently ongoing will be opened in a staggered manner as from October 1, while a further 11 swimming pools will be opened between November and December.

“Starting from September 1, 18 pools will open their gates for you to enjoy. And that’s not all – an additional 29 pools will be opening during the season, which extends until the end of March 2024.

So, make sure you seize this opportunity to enjoy the water,” said the MMC for Community Development, Cllr Lubabalo Magwentshu.

MMC Magwentshu added that a total of seven pools in Regions B, F and G will not open due to vandalism, stripping and major renovations.

Swimming pools will operate between Tuesdays to Fridays, you can swim from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

On weekends from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

The MMC said the City’s pools will offer beyond just swimming, and promised to deliver on a variety of activities.

“That is the perfect way to beat the heat and enjoy some outdoors. Whether you’re a seasoned swimmer or just dipping your toes, everyone is encouraged to join in the summer celebration.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to learn how to swim, stay active with water aerobics, and brush up on water safety skills,” added the MMC.
