Eldos woman launches her book
Her adopted parents never made her lack the complete love of a biological parent.
Angie Claudelle Griffin, a wife, mother of three and a qualified Educator in Early Childhood Development and Preschool from Eldorado Park recently launched her book Tell Me Again About The First Time You Heard Me Cry. It’s a book about her journey as an adoptee.
She started her journey on YouTube where she was speaking about her life as an adopted child.
The videos were mainly focusing of Griffin’s stories about her family, daily affirmations and quotes. But today she is a self-published author about her life journey.

“My book is a story about my adoption. The title was chosen based on countless times when I used to ask my mother to tell me about my adoption story.
“I would start by saying ‘Mommy tell me again about the first time you head me cry’ and that was fitting for the title of my book,” she explains.
According to Griffin, her life as an adoptee has never came close to the sad and painful stories that children went through.

Her adopted parents never made her lack the complete love of a biological parent. However, what took a toll on her was her struggle to create meaningful relationships more especially with her biological mother.
“What had a toll on me was trying to build a relationship or friendship with my birth-giver, as she made it very hard and difficult. But I kept on trying until I decided to let it go about a year before Covid because it hurt too much. She then passed on during Covid,” says Griffin.
Perceptions around adopted children state that they may often fear that their adoptive parents or others will eventually leave them. These fears can also lead to feelings of shame.

To encourage and restore hope to these children Griffin says, “Adoptees, you are chosen. You are here for a purpose.
Although all our stories are not the same, we all have a story to share so we can motivate, encourage and inspire one another.

“To families who have adopted one or more children, thank you. Every child matters. Every child deserves to be safe, loved and cared for. Every child deserves a home and to be part of a family.”
Griffin has also written a children’s adoption story book related to her story, as well as two other children’s adoption story books. She has a few other children’s story books and all her books will be published in 2024.
She concluded by thanking God for choosing her, her family and friends who stood by her when she began the journey to tell her story.
