Spirit of christmas restored among little ones
The purpose of this fun day was to reignite the spirit of Christmas within the community of Eldos.

It really does take a village to raise to a child.
Multiple NPOs from Eldorado Park and surrounding areas hosted a Christmas party on Saturday, November 18 at EW Hobbs Primary School for all local children.
The purpose of this fun day was to reignite the spirit of Christmas within the community of Eldos.

Because of the outbreak of violence, substance abuse and gangsterism in the community, children have been robbed of their innocence and rights to an environment that is safe, fun and joyful.

Annamaria Lechki, managing director for RySky Foundation said, “This whimsical celebration was crafted to spread holiday cheer and create an unforgettable memory for the little ones.”
For many people, Christmas is the most wonderful time of year. They revel in the warmth, decorations, gatherings, and traditions, but for vulnerable children, Christmas can be very hard.

According to Rochelle Plaatjies, a representative for EW Hobbs primary, they have been witnessing how children are becoming adults at home.
There is no love, attention and parents are on substances leaving every adult responsibility to the children. The community is filled with violence and everything around them is negative.

“Children witness all this violence and gangsterism on the streets and in their homes and believe that is normal and acceptable. But today we want to show them that it is not normal, we are restoring the right to being a child again. Allowing them to be filled with laughter, enjoyment, love and the right to protection and education,” said Plaatjies.
No one was left out, as young ladies expecting mother and recently given birth and their toddlers up to the age of three had their very own designated safe area and programme of entertainment, with jumping castle, playground, and age related fun games.

“We can gather gifts and give them out and leave the kids but they will unwrap, play with and then forget about the. However, this fun filled day of enjoyment is meant to give children a lifetime memory, something to believe in,” Lechki concluded.
