Another donation made to Winnie Ngwekazi Primary School

Familiarity with symbols on traffic signs is important for every road user in order to maintain the safety and efficiency of our transportation facilities.

Following up from their Grade R classroom donation in February, Bidvest returned to Winnie Ngwekazi Primary School last week Friday in partnership with G-Fox to provide kids with a playfield.

This project was adopted by the G-Fox company to create a street-smart learning environment for Grade R learners to learn about road signs and remain safe on the roads. The team also donated four bikes for the children.

Denny Poovan, Managing Director at Bidvest AFCOM said, “This street-smart initiative by G-Fox is about the educators being able to teach the children about road signs.

“This will no longer be vacant space but children will use it to help them remain safe on the road when coming to school.”

The G-Fox business is about work wear and safety wear, so their alignment with instilling knowledge about safety to children lies in their existence.

Mlandvo Motsa, Transformation and Compliance Manager at G-Fox pledged the educators to use this platform to teach learners about road signs and not just make it a playing area but more of a learning area.

“The intention is to save these children from the road because this is Soweto and they are always within close proximity to roads.

“Our intention is to get the educators teaching them about the importance of paying attention to road signs while they enjoy playing with their bikes,” said Motsa.

Deputy Principal of Winnie Ngwekazi shared his gratitude to the two companies that continue to take their school from one level to another.

“This makes us feel very good and we appreciate Bidvest in conjunction with G-Fox.

“Many times we find that our kids die on the streets because they do not know how to observe road signs. Our learners are now going to learn about road signs practically,” said Deputy Principal, Matthew Kgatla.

It is important for parents to work together with the school in teaching their children about road signs. This will help prevent after-school accidents as well as children from playing in busy roads.
