WARNING: Severe thunderstorms predicted for Johannesburg region

Residents of the City of Johannesburg (CoJ) have been warned of severe thunderstorms in most parts of the region by the South African Weather Services (SAWS) on Tuesday, October 15.
According to SAWS, predicted flash floods are expected to cause traffic disruptions and other delays on the roads.
Residents who are residing in low-lying areas have been urged to avoid crossing river streams during this period.

Robert Mulaudzi, the communications manager for CoJ’s Emergency Management Services, advised motorists to exercise caution on the roads, and make sure not to cross flooded roads or bridges.
Mulaudzi said the City remains on high alert and all seven regions of the CoJ are monitored, with the help of all specialised units, such as the Aquatic Rescue Unit for water-related emergencies.
