Protea Gardens Mall donates cleaning products to taxi drivers

The training officer at Soweto Taxi Services, Julius Makhubela, said they appreciate the mall management’s recognition of their value in the community.

As part of its corporate social investment initiative, the Protea Gardens Mall appreciated taxi drivers by donating 100 buckets of car cleaning items on November 12 at the Protea Gardens taxi rank.

Protea Gardens centre manager Kulani Nkuna told the Urban News that the donation to the taxi operators was a token of appreciation because they acknowledge the good working relationship they have with them and wish to keep it.

“We are thanking them much for their assistance and presence in the mall.

“We believe maintaining our relationship with them is crucial because, without taxis, our customers would not be able to get here. With the taxis’ help, we now have customers from as far as Lenasia and all around Soweto,’’ he said.

Nkuna added that taxi operators have become the soul and backbone of the SA economy, and 99.9% of black people use taxis to run errands at the mall, so without taxis, several businesses would be affected.
