Dobsonville charity drive offers food, clothing and hope

Faith-based organisations joined forces in Soweto to host a prayer session and charity drive at the Methodist Church in Dobsonville on August 27.
The trio joined hands in faith, compassion and community service to bring hope and practical support to the Dobsonville community.
The drive brought together the community and stakeholders for a meaningful time of prayer, encouragement, unity and hope.

Dorcas Women in Action (DWA) president Nokwanda Qomoyi said the organisation seeks to restore dignity, provide assistance and foster a spirit of generosity, compassion and ubuntu within the community while addressing the needs of vulnerable members of society.
“We see this as important because we see that a lot of people in our communities are unemployed or lack and this is our way of giving back,” said Grand Templers member Mapula Tau.
DWA has dedicated itself to uplifting vulnerable community members by providing spiritual and moral support, education, advocacy, skills development, food parcels, clothing and emergency assistance.
Community members enjoyed a warm, hearty meal and selected pre-loved clothing items donated by the stakeholders and members.
