Eldos senior citizens treated to lunch

Royal Hearts FC and Paddy Group team up to bring joy to senior citizens at the Andries Meyer Old Age Home.

The Royal Hearts FC (RHFC), in collaboration with Paddy Group (PG), recently hosted a lunch event for senior citizens at the Andries Meyer Old Age Home (AMOAH) in Eldorado Park.

The event, which took place on November 22, was part of the group’s social responsibility initiative to give back to the community.

Tony Erasmus, a representative from the RHFC, explained that the event was a way for the group to show appreciation for the elderly.

“We need to throw back into our elderly people. It’s not all about the families being in trouble, but there are situations like that, and we can’t ignore it,” he said.

Erasmus highlighted the importance of supporting senior citizens, many of whom are neglected by their families and society.

“Most of the senior citizens are neglected. We need to show them that we care,” he emphasized.

AMOAH supervisor said it’s heart-warming to see such bright smiles on the elderly’s faces.

She said when Royal Heart FC approached her to inform her that they wanted to surprise the senior citizens, she did not know what to expect.

She further noted that it is helpful when other organisations lend a helping hand because the home is also an NPO.

The lunch event was a resounding success, with the senior citizens in the residency enjoying themselves.

Erasmus expressed his gratitude to the sponsors and appealed to other businesses to join them in supporting similar initiatives.

“If more of our business people can join us or come on board, we can host the event more than once a year, it would make a huge difference,” he said.

Kirsty Adams from PG said the company loves partnering with organisations that are passionate about communities and making a difference in people’s lives.
