Eldorado Park man sentenced to life for several cases
His reign of terror began in 2014 when he raped a 29-year-old woman in Eldorado Park. The victim was dragged to an open veld after leaving a nearby tavern.
A 39-year-old parolee, Albert Beukes, has been sentenced to two life imprisonment terms for two counts of rape, as well as 15 years for a third count of rape and 18 months for kidnapping by the Protea Magistrate’s Court.
Beukes’ reign of terror began in 2014 when he raped a 29-year-old woman in Eldorado Park. The victim was dragged to an open veld after leaving a nearby tavern.
DNA swabs were obtained and stored, but the perpetrator remained unknown until years later.

Two years later, in 2016, Beukes struck again, raping another woman who was also targeted while walking home from a tavern.
The same modus operandi was used, and again, DNA swabs were obtained but the perpetrator remained at large.
His final victim was a 47-year-old woman who was raped in her shack in Kliptown in 2019.
This time, however, the victim was able to identify her attacker, and the police were able to apprehend Beukes.
According to Phindi Mjonondwane, the NPA Gauteng regional spokesperson, the successful prosecution of Beukes is a testament to the tireless efforts of the investigators and prosecutors.

“We commend the investigating officer, Captain Smith, and the regional court prosecutor Edward Madibela for their outstanding work in bringing this serial rapist to justice.”
Beukes was found to be a parolee who had been released after serving a 12-year sentence for rape.
His capture was made possible through the diligent work of Smith, who uncovered Beukes’ true identity and linked him to the unsolved dockets through DNA evidence.
