Bopasenatla Secondary School comes out tops

The school was also the top Soweto school in 2023, so they are reliving their dream.

There was a joyous atmosphere at Bopasenatla Secondary School when matric learners celebrated their results and the school’s top position in the Johannesburg North Circuit.

The school again rewrote its history with a pass rate of 98.9%.

The learners and teachers celebrated this achievement while reminiscing about their hardships throughout the year and how they triumphed over them.

Principal Takalani Robert Radzhuma said they are proud of all the learners’ and teachers’ hard work and dedication throughout the year.

“I am happy with our results this year because this shows that hard work does pay off. We had 87 learners, and only one failed; the rest passed.

The learners at Bopasenatla Secondary School celebrating their 100 percent pass rate.

“We got 100% pass rates for accounting, economics, business studies, mathematics literacy, English First Additional Language and all languages.

“We have outdone ourselves. We had good and quality learners who showed commitment from term one until the last day,” Radzhuma said.

The school is reliving its dream because it also took the top spot in the circuit in 2023. Radzhuma said that although they produced excellent results, they faced challenges like absenteeism and learners coming late but used measures to deal with them.

“Parents and guardians were supportive. Even when we wanted to express our frustration, they came to the school and listened to us. They made this journey wonderful and bearable by working closely with us.

“We have 113 learners this year and are guaranteed that all of them will pass, and we will again get 100%. There is no other way we would have it. 100% has become the culture of our school.”

Learner Nomlindo Shelembe said she stayed at a garage until 03:00, waiting for a newspaper to check her results.

“It has been a tough year, but just as our teachers told us, the hard work paid off. Now, we can bow out of high school and enter the real world of higher education.

“More than anything, I am grateful to my teachers for the support and dedication they gave us. We promised to make them proud and did just that,” Shelembe said.
