NPA spokesperson Phindi Mjondwane said the accused was arrested on January 19 regarding an incident on December 17, 2019, in Dlamini.

It is alleged that Mofokeng used a bottle to assault the complainant, striking her in the mouth.

“The matter was previously closed due to the complaint’s untraceability. However, further investigations led to the accused’s arrest and court appearance,” said Mjondwane.

According to police reports, the Gauteng Province Cold Case Investigation Unit and the Gauteng Counter Intelligence Investigation office members embarked on an intelligence-driven operation to trace and arrest Maweni.
