Kliptown meter cheats to face the music

In a bid to tackle the growing issue of bypassed electricity and water meters, the City of Johannesburg is launching a joint operation with City Power (CP), Johannesburg Social Housing Company (JOSHCO), and Joburg Water (JW).

The entities will conduct an audit and disconnection operation at the JOSHCO Kliptown Square housing units on January 29.

According to CP, the goal is to identify and penalize individuals who have tampered with their service meters, putting a strain on the city’s infrastructure and posing safety risks.
