Lesego Jonas Mataboge, known as Jay Da MusiQ, embarked on his music journey in 2020 as a producer and DJ under Way Forward Production. Jay Da MusiQ’s artistic journey has been marked by exploration of various genres including private and soulful piano, commercial and afro-tech. He also plays the guitar and piano.
His music career took off with the successful release of his debut EP, Áfrican Piano, in October 2023. Building on his momentum, he released his second EP, Uyajola, in May 2024 with follow up projects, Mbingano and African Ocean, with all projects now streaming on all major digital platforms.

Jay has showcased his talent on various prominent stages including the Youth Day Melody Clap and Tap After Party, Namela Rides, Soweto Theaters’ Amapiano Evolution, Plugged Musical Concert, Social Vibes, Bud Tuesday, Yanos Saturday, and at local clubs like Disoufeng, Kwa Lichaba and Kol Café, demonstrating his versatility and ability to engage diverse audiences.
He has had the privilege of collaborating with legendary artists such as Jakarumba from Trompies, JahSeed from Bongo Muffin, Bade Lama Bade and an exciting duo comprising talented young artists under the age of 10.
