Comedians get props at Golf Reef City

Gold Reef City’s Lyric Theatre hosted South Africa’s leading comedic performers during The Savanna Comics’ Choice Comedy Awards for the 12th time, with Nina Hastie and Carvin H Goldstone as the MCs.

The event was highlighted by several unforgettable performances like Vafa Naraghi’s dramatic spoof musical and KG Mokgadi’s news-based humour and comedy.

The iconic Waldo trophy was awarded to ten winners and the newcomer category was changed to The Eb Award in tribute of the late comedian Ebenhaezer Dibakwane.

It was made possible by brand partners Savanna Premium Cider, Mrs Balls, One Eyed Jack and Comedy Central, all aimed at growing the culture of South African comedy.
