Pimville man rebuilds life after 16-year drug dddiction
Msibi started using substances for fun and later relied on them to escape his problems.
After 16 years of addiction, Sipho Zakhele Msibi from Pimville has drastically turned his life around, from being a substance user to now working as a production assistant in the television industry.
Msibi’s battle with substances began in matric, where he started using substances for fun but later on relied on them to escape his problems.
Over time he became addicted to crystal meth, Cat, cocaine and crack, spending huge amounts of money in pursuit of his next high.

His addiction came at a high cost which led to him losing his wife and child. He engaged in criminal activities and became and outcast in his community.
It was a painful season for his parents serving as pastors, having to wacth their child battle addiction.
Msibi told Urban News that he had decided that he wanted to turn around his life when he almost lost his second child and that is when he reached out to social workers at the Gauteng Department Of Social Development.
“I was a lab rat, I tried all kinds of drugs and I spent everything I had on them.” He shared that he did not have to wait for two weeks to get admitted to Clinix.
He said that he would encourage an addict to hold on and that help is available.
“Being an outcast in your community is not easy.”
