Soweto Film Market launches to empower African storytelling and filmmakers

Born from the Soweto International Film Festival’s mission to elevate African voices, the market is where creativity meets commerce. Together with SIFF, it is rewriting the future of African film.

Marking a new chapter in film industry events, with a dedication to celebrating African storytelling and empowering the next generation of filmmakers and visionaries, the Soweto Film Market offers a unique opportunity for creatives to network, collaborate, and thrive.

It launched during an exclusive event at Eyethu Heritage Hall on June 12 in the heart of Soweto’s vibrant creative scene.

Two powerhouse events, the Soweto Film Market and the Soweto International Film Festival (SIFF), are joining forces in 2025 to redefine Africa’s film industry.

The festival will take place from November 19 to 22 at the Soweto Theatre.
