According to a released statement, Dammie was a committed public representative who understood that local government is the cornerstone for service delivery, anchored on responsive and servant leadership.

“We are heartbroken as a community because Brenda worked hard and cared for the communities of Diepkloof, Noordgesig, and Orlando.

“She was good at her work. Back in 2022/2023, when we had electricity issues, she was there for us until we got help.

“I wish we could have someone in Ward 29 to continue where she left off,” said Sarah Lukhombo, a resident from Diepkloof, Zone 3.

Sibusiso Maisela, the principal of Noordgesig Primary School, said, “I’ve known Brenda since 2017. Whenever we had a problem in our school, she was the first person I called.

Dammie’s neighbour and friend, Rhoda Anderson, described her as not just a committed councillor but a true leader.

“Brenda was a true warrior. She was a friend and mother to many. I know she is in a better place where there is no pain. I am going to miss her so much. May her soul rest in peace.”
