Absa donates winter school packs to Ditawana Primary learners in need

Absa has gifted 65 winter school packs, including jerseys, socks and treats, to underprivileged learners at Ditawana Primary School.

Learners at Ditawana Primary School could not contain their excitement as they received winter school packs donated by the Absa team on 25 July.

The packs, consisting of school jerseys, socks and assorted goodies, were handed over to underprivileged learners identified by the school.

Elizabeth Manchidi from Absa head office said the day was very significant to their team, as it gave them a chance to make a difference in the lives of learners who need support the most.

“We adopted the school as a department from Forensics Security to hand out these packs. Even though winter is almost over, it was a long journey for us to put this campaign together.

A heartfelt thank you goes to our colleagues who contributed from their own pockets to make this day a success and to put smiles on the faces of the learners. We really appreciate the contributions – they go a long way,” said Manchidi.

She added that a total of 65 winter school packs were donated.

“We specifically targeted learners in need, as not all learners at the school require these items. The principal gave us a list of children who are mostly from informal settlements.

We’ve also taken note of additional needs, and while we can’t share details yet, more good things are coming to the school.

As a black person from an underprivileged background who knows what it’s like to go without, my heart is full knowing we could make a difference. These children deserve to learn, play, and grow like anyone else.”

The school’s SGB chairperson, Mojalefe Xaba, expressed his appreciation and said they were overwhelmed by the kindness shown.
