Moletsane learners walk with pride after school shoe donation

Learners at Mochochonono Primary School in Moletsane received brand-new school shoes, thanks to Lefika Hearts and Samaritan’s Feet’s Walk With Pride initiative, supporting 40 children in need.

To give back to the community, the Lefika Hearts and the Samaritan’s Feet donated new school shoes to 40 learners at Mochochonono Primary School in Moletsane on July 25.

The donation, titled Walk With Pride – School Shoes Initiative, was the first Lefika Hearts initiative since registering in December 2024.

The school identified learners who needed new school shoes, and parents were invited to the donation ceremony to express their gratitude.

“As we are from Moletsane, we believe charity begins at home. It was our first time donating school shoes, and we’ve started with a small number because we didn’t want to overextend ourselves.

“Going forward, our main aim is to donate over 1 000 school shoes annually around primary schools in Soweto,” said Katlego Magasoane, the co-founder of Lefika Hearts.

Thato Maleke, one of the parents, stated, “I’m happy my child was one of the learners who received school shoes. We are grateful as parents because some of us couldn’t afford to buy new shoes.”
