Absa donates 65 winter school packs to Ditawana Primary learners
Learners at Ditawana Primary School in Thembisa received warm winter packs from Absa, including jerseys, socks and goodies, bringing smiles to underprivileged children.
The learners at Ditawana Primary School could not contain their excitement as they received winter school packs which were donated by the Absa team on July 25.
The packs consisted of school jerseys, socks and goodies which were handed over to underprivileged learners from the school.
Elizabeth Manchidi, from Absa head office, said the day is very significant to their team as they have a chance to make a difference in the lives of the learners who need these items most.

“We adopted the school as a department from forensics security to hand out these packs. Even though winter is almost over, it was a long journey for us to put this campaign together.
“Heartfelt gratitude goes to our colleagues who contributed from their own pockets to make this day a success as well as to put a smile on the faces of the learners. We really appreciate the contributions, they go a long way,” Manchidi said.
She added that they donated a total of 65 winter school packs to learners.
“We are really targeting learners who are in need of the items we donated because not all learners in the school need them. The principal of the school gave us a list of those learners who are mostly from informal settlements.
This is our first project with the school as the department, however Absa has built a relationship with the school throughout the years.

There is more coming to the school as we took a list of what the school needs, although we can’t go into details what we will be working on next, but there are still good things that we will be doing for the school as a department.
“As a black person who comes from an underprivileged background, and knows how it is to lack, my heart is full knowing that we were able to make a difference in the lives of these learners so that they can learn, play and grow like others around them.”
The SGB chairperson of the school, Mojalefe Xaba, said they are overwhelmed by this kind gesture and that their heartfelt gratitude goes to the Absa team.
“It is heartbreaking to see some learners without school jerseys in this cold weather. This is a warm gesture. We hope our relationship continues with Absa so that our learners can benefit form their kindness,” Xaba said.
