Gauteng Premier condemns attack on Traffic Wardens

Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi has denounced the shooting of five Traffic Wardens in Daveyton, Ekurhuleni, during a routine patrol, emphasising that violence against law enforcement will not be tolerated.

Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi has strongly condemned the shooting of Traffic Wardens in Daveyton, Ekurhuleni, over the weekend, which left five wardens injured.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning, while the wardens were conducting a routine patrol. According to reports, the officers came under fire after attempting to search a group of about 12 suspects, who allegedly retaliated with high-calibre firearms.

Premier Lesufi described the attack as ‘an act of violence demonstrating utter disregard for the rule of law’. He stressed that wardens, alongside other law enforcement officers, serve daily on the frontlines to safeguard communities.
