Gospel choir brings music and hope to Eldorado Park

A 30-year-old gospel group performs in Eldorado Park for the first time, giving young people a creative alternative to the streets.

Faith Temple Ministries (FTM) is inviting residents of Eldorado Park and surrounding areas to the Spring Worship Volume Six music concert, which will also mark the official launch of the Exaltation Junior Community Project.

The event will take place on September 27 at the FTM premises in Ext 5, Eldorado Park, in collaboration with 50 Plus Praise.

Music lovers can look forward to performances from one of Eldorado Park’s oldest choirs, the Exaltation Crew, as well as the newly formed junior choir, which will make its official debut on the day.

Bishop Marcus Jacobs of FTM shared that the gospel group, which has been performing for nearly 30 years, will be staging its first-ever concert in Eldorado Park.

“Most of the choir members are from Eldorado Park, but traditionally, they have performed in bigger venues where audiences are more financially stable,” he explained.

Over the past year, FTM has hosted choir practices and engaged with schools in the area to encourage young people to join the community choir. The junior choir was started eight months ago and has been practising at the church since then.

The initiative aims to offer local youth a positive alternative to crime, giving them opportunities to grow through music and community involvement.

“We wanted to bring young people off the streets and into something uplifting that they enjoy,” Jacobs said.

Both the senior and junior choirs will perform together on the night. Tickets have also been distributed in schools to encourage participation.

Jacobs added that ticket sales help sustain the choir by covering operational costs such as sound equipment and instruments.

“This initiative is about growth, continuity, and giving our young stars a platform to thrive, while also keeping the legacy of our long-standing choir alive in the community,” he concluded.
