Thipe Youth Golf Academy hosts Diepkloof open day to inspire young golfers
Parents and children in Diepkloof are invited to learn about junior golf opportunities at the Thipe Youth Golf Academy’s open day, featuring demonstrations and meet-and-greets with coaches.
The Thipe Youth Golf Academy (TYGA) invites residents to an open day at the Zodwa Khoza Foundation on September 24.
The day will introduce young children in the area to local talented golfers, have golf demonstrations and promote junior golf programmes offered by the TYGA.
“We will host a meet-and-greet with our coaches and let the players explore our facilities.

“This day is crucial for us to showcase our mission and vision as a youth golf academy rooted in the township.
“It is an opportunity to highlight what we are all about and what we aim to achieve,” TYGA coach Dennis Joseph Ndau said.

He added that their main goal is to foster parent engagement and participation.
“We believe parental support and motivation play a significant role in a child’s development. By working together, we can emphasise the importance of structure and positivity from home, setting up our young golfers for success.
“By nurturing our organisation, we are promoting a conducive environment for our players and students to thrive.”
The TYGA has two ongoing programmes that focus on engaging local youth in the sport: The Community Golf Programme, which promotes golf as a tool for development, and the School Golf Programme, which integrates golf into the school curriculum to foster growth and discipline among learners. It runs in five schools around Diepkloof.

“For kids new to golf, we focus on building a strong foundation using our expert coaching skills.
“We introduce them to the game’s fundamentals through engaging drills that help their bodies adapt to basic golf movements.

“As they progress, their body and muscle memory develop, making training enjoyable, relatable and effective.
“We are excited to expand both programmes to other Gauteng townships next year, spreading the benefits of golf and positively impacting more communities.
“Since introducing our TYGA programme, we have seen remarkable positive changes in our young participants.
“Parents have shared testimonials, citing improvements in their children’s discipline, behaviour, social interactions and friendships, manners and etiquette, as well as academic performance,” Ndau said.
Parents are encouraged to join the day to support their children and learn more about the sport.
