Eskom restores power to parts of Soweto as access issues delay repairs in Protea North
Eskom has restored electricity to several areas in Soweto, but technicians remain unable to complete repairs in parts of Protea North after locked mini substations blocked access.
Eskom has restored power to residents in Molapo and parts of Naledi and Protea North following recent outages across Soweto. The utility confirmed that technicians are continuing restoration work for remaining affected customers in Emdeni and additional sections of Naledi.
However, full restoration efforts have been halted in parts of Protea North due to ongoing access challenges.
According to Eskom, several mini substations in the area have been locked by community members, preventing technicians from reaching the infrastructure required for testing and repairs.

The power utility warned that blocking access to electrical equipment not only delays supply restoration but also poses a serious safety risk to both workers and the community.
Eskom urged residents not to lock, tamper with, or operate any electricity infrastructure, emphasising that such actions can compromise safety protocols and prolong outages. Eskom apologised for the inconvenience caused and said teams will resume work as soon as access is granted
