Tshepisong community warned after alleged kidnapping and ransom incident
Residents of Tshepisong and surrounding areas are urged to remain vigilant following reports of criminals allegedly kidnapping locals and demanding ransom, with police urging the public to report suspicious activity.
The Tshepisong community and neighbouring areas have been warned to exercise caution following reports of a suspected kidnapping and ransom syndicate operating in the region.
According to local sources, the kidnappers are allegedly targeting residents and moving through the area to carry out their crimes.
In a recent incident, a man was reportedly kidnapped from his home in front of his family and held overnight, leaving his relatives unaware of his whereabouts.
The following day, the kidnappers allegedly contacted the family, demanding a ransom of R40 000 for the victim’s release and threatening to kill him if their demands were not met.

The family reportedly managed to raise R37 000, which was handed over to the kidnappers. The victim was eventually released but was assaulted during his captivity.
Jerome Ndabandaba from the Tshepisong Community Safety Committee expressed serious concerns about the criminal activity, appealing to residents to work closely with law enforcement to help trace and apprehend the kidnappers.
Authorities are urging the community to remain alert and report any suspicious activity to the police, emphasising that public cooperation is crucial in combating kidnapping and related crimes.
