Eldorado Park SAPS urges safe, bully-free return to school in 2026

As schools reopen and matric results are released on January 13, Eldorado Park SAPS has encouraged learners and parents to prioritise safety, well-being and positive choices.

As schools prepare to reopen and matric results are set to be released, the Eldorado Park SAPS has shared a message of encouragement, support, and reassurance with learners, parents, and the broader community.

The Department of Basic Education announced that the class of 2025 matriculants will receive their results on January 13.

Eldorado Park SAPS management and members have wished all matric learners the very best as they take this important step in their academic journey.

The police station media liaison officer, Sergeant Fezeka Khobo, also reminded learners who may not achieve the results they hoped for that this moment does not define their future.

This is not the end of the journey, but an opportunity to pivot, she added.

“Learners who do not pass matric are encouraged to process their emotions with the support of family and trusted individuals and to explore alternative pathways.

“These include rewriting subjects through second-chance programmes, repeating matric, enrolling at TVET colleges, considering vocational training or bridging courses, and using the experience as a moment of self-reflection to identify new strategies and goals,” said Khobo.

With schools reopening on January 14, Eldorado Park SAPS has also called on parents to play an active role in ensuring a smooth and safe transition back to school.

Parents are urged to ensure that children enjoy safe transport to and from school, to pay attention to their emotional well-being, and to help them shift from holiday mode into school routines.

Learners, on the other hand, are encouraged to be responsible for acclimating to a new routine, being prepared for school with appropriate stationery and uniforms, being active in class when studying, and demonstrating respect to parents, teachers, and fellow learners.

Police have strongly emphasised that bullying will not be tolerated.

“Schools must remain safe spaces for learning,” Khobo noted.

“Teachers and parents are encouraged to work together to address bullying incidents as soon as they arise. If challenges persist despite these efforts, the Eldorado Park SAPS Social Crime Prevention Office is available to assist.”
