Diepkloof organisation launches matric support programme to help learners after results
Ahead of the January 13 matric results release, Kaboentle Women Power and Development Projects has launched a support and counselling programme for learners in Diepkloof who may be struggling with their results.
With an effort to curb learner suicide after the release of matric results, which is set for January 13, Kaboentle Women Power and Development Projects is inviting learners from Diepkloof and the surrounding area to join them in their matric support programme.
The programme, which is aimed at providing support and counselling to learners who did not do well in their matric exams, will start from January 15 at Quaker Recreation Centre in Zone 4.

“Losing a child or learner to suicide is the most daunting thing parents or communities can ever go through. We do not want to keep losing more of our learners like this.
“Failing matric is not the end of the world. This is the mentality we want to instil in our learners that there’s still a chance to rewrite their mistakes, but suicide should never be an answer,” said the founder of Kaboentle, Monica Moagi.
Moagi added that the learners will receive ongoing counselling from UJ social workers who are working hand in hand with the organisation, as well as support groups that will redirect their focus and aid their mental health during these difficult times.
“Our call to action is not only counselling. We will also assist them with TVET college applications, matric rewrite, as well as skills training.
“There will also be community support from local mentors, volunteers, and peers who have been in a similar predicament.”

“Our learners should always remember that matric results can bring joy or disappointment, but every one of them deserves support and a clear path forward.
“Whether they are celebrating or facing challenges, we will be here to walk this journey with them because it truly takes a village to raise a child.”
