Attempted looting contained at Boxer in Kliptown

A heavy law enforcement presence and swift intervention by the Kliptown CPF stopped an attempted looting at Boxer and nearby shops in Kliptown.

The Kliptown CPF, together with the JMPD Public Order Policing Unit, prevented an attempted looting incident at Boxer and surrounding shops in Kliptown.

According to Kliptown CPF coordinator Denise Higgins, residents were unable to loot the shop. She said a large crowd had gathered after a voice note circulated, allegedly inciting people to loot Boxer.

A heavy police presence was deployed outside the Boxer shopping centre to prevent any acts of violence or looting.

However, law enforcement and community safety structures responded swiftly, preventing violence and any looting from taking place.
