Taxi business running slow as commuters fear for their lives

The taxi business has taken a hard knock as Dobsonville taxi rank is quiet with a decreased number of commuters amid the March and March set to take place on June 30.

Taxi operator at Dobsonville Rank Bogatsu Moroeng said: “Today is extremely slow, we are usually loading the 40th taxi at 9am but we are still trying to fill up the 20th taxi now. It takes an hour for a taxi to get full.

This will greatly affect business because cars need maintenance, drivers need to go home with some money and I don’t see that happening .”
A commuter, Dineo Ramahuba told Urban News that she is already late and is risking going to work because she is not certain of her safety as she depends on public transport to get to work.
Another marshall who referred to himself as S Magwaza further backed up that business was hardly moving.
He reassured that passengers will be safe as they are aware that customers are afraid. He also shared some taxi’s end up leaving without it being full, to ensure that the little passengers that they have do not get to work late.
Operators and Marshalls shared that they will have to work hard in ensuring that they get customers and ensure for their safety.
