JMPD warns motorists of protest action in Pimville and Dlamini

The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) has advised motorists and members of the public of ongoing service delivery protests in Pimville and Dlamini, Soweto, today, July 13.

According to the JMPD, residents have taken to the streets to protest against ongoing electricity and power outages in the community.

The following intersections and roads have been closed due to barricades and debris:

  • Klipspruit Valley Road at the Modjaji Street Circle
  • Klipspruit Valley Road at Chris Hani Road
  • Klipspruit Valley Road at Moroka Nancefield Road
  • Chris Hani Road and Elias Motsoaledi Road in Lakeview

Motorists are urged to avoid the affected routes as traffic congestion and delays are expected in the surrounding areas.

Diversions are in place. Road users are advised to use alternative routes, including Koma, Elias Motsoaledi, Moroka Nancefield and Modjaji streets, where possible.

Law enforcement officers remain on the scene to monitor the situation, manage traffic flow and ensure public safety.
