Soweto church hosts career day to guide learners

The day was aimed at giving learners and everyone interested in the community knowledge on different career paths.

The Phomolong Lutheran Church Acolytes hosted a career day at Meadowlands Zone 3, Soweto, on May 30.

The day was designed to empower and equip the local community with knowledge about different available career paths.

Professionals from various fields shared practical insights and first-hand experiences during a career day hosted by the Lutheran Church acolytes in Phomolong.

Chairperson of the acolytes, Koketso Motsitsi, told Urban News that the idea came from their own uncertainty about future career choices as young people.

“We realised that if we are struggling to make these decisions, there are many others in the community who are in the same situation. That is why we decided to bring in professionals from different fields to share insight on what can be expected,” said Motsitsi.

Student pastor Mongezi added that the initiative is not a typical event, noting that the church aims not only to nurture spiritual growth but also to support all aspects of development, especially among young people.

Those from different careers and institutions, such as the JMPD, Joburg Zoo, Johannesburg Water and ELCASO Wits, joined the event to give our necessary information on how to join, what to expect and requirements.
