Solar lights handed over to Pimville schools ahead of exams

The Nhlanhla Tshabalala Foundation handed over 15 solar lights to three local schools in Pimville at Thaba Jabula Secondary School on September 22.

The donation was made possible through the 10th Anniversary Charity Golf Day and Gala Dinner, an initiative aimed at raising funds for 100 learners.

Under the theme “Leaving No Child Behind”, the foundation’s goal is to provide support to learners from informal settlements and disadvantaged communities, including learners from Thaba Jabula Secondary School, Progress High School and Emshukantambo Secondary School.

“The milestone event brought together golfers, business leaders, sponsors, government and community stakeholders, educators, partners, alumni and friends of the foundation to celebrate ten years of service and to support the foundation’s continued work in education and youth development,” said Nhlanhla Tshabalala, founder of the Nhlanhla Tshabalala Foundation.

As essentials such as electricity become more scarce in local communities, this donation will come in handy and will be of great benefit to learners by helping them study for their final examinations.

Principal of Emshukantambo Secondary School Richard Masemola shared that the school is grateful to be a beneficiary of such acts and that its learners are thought of by foundations and community members.

“We know that these solar lights will make a huge impact on our learners’ lives. We are pushing for an improved pass rate, and things such as solar lights are tools that can assist in making sure that nothing stands in the learners’ way of achieving those marks,” said Masemola.ALSO READ: Soweto elderly receive winter warmth from Izimangile Foundation
