He is a dedicated athlete with immense athleticism.

Primrose resident Sphiwe Pule Makhoba will represent Ekurhuleni at the next national cross-country championships in Limpopo.

Makhoba competed at the district championships and came in first in the 8km cross-country.

He went to the provincials, which were held at Vanderbijlpark and he finished second.

“He will be representing Gauteng and Vryburger at the nationals. My advice is that he must run at his own pace; he will get there, and the whole school is behind him,” said coach Ruan de Lange.

He is one of the three athletes from Ekurhuleni South to attend the championships.

“As a school, we did well this year in athletics, as we had two students reach the provincials SA Schools Championships,” said de Lange.

“As the season comes to an end, we are looking for new sponsors to sponsor us with training equipment, transport and new kits,” said de Lange.
