Soccer fraternity takes stance against GBV

The initiative, which aligns with SA’s 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children, calls on soccer fans to stand united against GBV and become champions for change.

Carling Black Label (CBL) reaffirmed its commitment to combating GBV with the launch of its 2024 #NoExcuse campaign.

The initiative, which aligns with SA’s 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children, calls on soccer fans to stand united against GBV and become champions for change.

At the heart of this year’s message is a clear and direct call to action, highlighting that real injuries happen off the field.

The campaign emphasises that win or lose, there is #NoExcuse for GBV.

As part of the campaign, CBL launched the Champions for Change course, a programme designed to inspire men to challenge harmful behaviours and become agents of change in their communities.

The course is accessible online at NoExcuseSA.com and through manual training sessions.

According to CBL brand director Kerryn Greenleaf, their focus is on empowering men to lead the fight against GBV rather than shaming them.

Sports presenter Andile Nxube and former professional footballer Benni McCarthy.

“The Champions for Change course is a crucial step in building a more respectful and accountable society, on and off the field.”

The campaign’s presence at Premier Soccer League matches will amplify its message through injury-time activations, match-day media pop-ups, community workshops and partnerships with influential soccer figures.
