Metro achieves energy targets

Having attended the recent ‘City meets Business – Energy’ presentation, the Ekurhuleni Business Association (EBA) wishes to congratulate the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality for the excellent work done during the year 2014.

Also in achieving their targets in all objectives set for the year in households electrified, lighting masts erected, street lights installed and substations upgraded.

The reduction in the number of unplanned outages between 2013 and 2014 is of note and the percentage of outages restored between 1.5 and three hours is pleasing.

Plans for the development of alternative energy sources are to be lauded with the installation of solar panels in Wattville and the plans for a Solar Farm including plans for three landfill generator sites are extremely well received by business.

Business also thanks the municipality for avoiding load shedding in the industrial areas but understands that this could not be done in the businesses located in the commercial areas.

We as business therefore thank the electricity department in their efforts to provide an improved service to the businesses of Ekurhuleni.

Ramatiyane Seepe,

Chairman of the Ekurhuleni Business Association.
