Tributes pour in after Tina Turner’s passing

With her extraordinary talent, the musician has been hailed as a singular and exceptional force of nature.

Tributes have poured in after American-born singer Tina Turner, known as ‘Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll’ died at the age of 83.

According to Sky News, the singer died yesterday after a long illness at her home in Kusnacht, near Zurich, Switzerland.

Mick Jagger, Christina Aguilera, and Ciara were among those who paid tribute to Turner.

A statement from Turner’s Twitter page says: “With her music and boundless passion for life, she enchanted fans worldwide and inspired future stars. We say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us her greatest work—her music. Tina, we will miss you dearly.”

According to the Citizen, the iconic singer had suffered a number of health issues in recent years, including cancer, a stroke, and kidney failure.

“The gutsy performer known for hits, such as We Don’t Need Another Hero, The Best, and What’s Love Got to Do With It, sold a hundred million records and was the first black female artist to appear on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine,” says the publication.

Turner was married twice in her life, first to Ike Turner and then to Erwin Bach.

Coldplay opened their debut show in Barcelona at the Olympic Stadium with a cover of Proud Mary shortly after the news of Turner’s death broke.
