Stargazing with Wessa

Wessa's will host a stargazing night in October.

The Springs/Nigel branch of the Wildlife and Environment Society of South Africa (Wessa) will hold a stargazing evening at 4pm, on October 12, at the Marievale Bird Sanctuary.

Meet at 4:30pm for a guided bird walk in the sanctuary with Stan Madden, followed by a braai. Braai fires will be provided for a bring and braai.

Stargazing will start at 7pm, with two well-known local astronomers, Andrew Helston and Luciano Pazzi.

“They will guide you through the fascinating night skies and with the aid of powerful telescopes you will learn about nebulars, light years and lots more,” says Stan Madden.

Everyone is invited and non-members are welcome.

Please do not forget your binoculars and torches.

There is no admission fee, but a donation will be requested, all proceeds will be used for local conservation purposes by Wessa.

A lucky draw will take place and there are prizes to be won.
