Serious injuries suffered

There have been three serious accidents in Springs in the past week.

In the first accident, a driver sustained serious injuries after an accident on Thursday morning last week. The accident took place on the corner of Industry Road and Gold Road at 7am in which a Ford tow-truck and a VW sedan collided.

The driver of the VW sedan sustained serious injuries in the accident and the tow-truck driver escaped unscathed.

A case for reckless and negligent driving was opened and registered at the Springs Police Station.

Late at night on November 5, Netcare 911 paramedics and other services responded to an accident on Hewitt Street.

A man was in a critical condition after the vehicle he was travelling in overturned.

He was treated on the scene before being rushed to hospital for the urgent medical care he needed.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident.

On the same day at 5:23pm on Welgedacht Road a pedestrian was knocked over by a motorcycle, the motorcycle driver tried to swerve away from the pedestrian and he collided head-on with an oncoming bakkie.

The 27-year-old female pedestrian sustained serious injuries and the driver of the motorcycle was also seriously injured after he landed on top of the bonnet of the bakkie.

A 14-year-old passenger in the bakkie was treated for shock, after being exposed to a seriously injured motorcycle driver who landed on top of the bonnet on the passenger side, luckily the bakkie driver escaped the accident unscathed.

A case for reckless and negligent driving was opened and registered at Springs Police Station for further investigations.
