Cockpit murderer still at large

The Springs police is still looking for the man responsible for the death of Jeandré van Rensburg (19) at the Cockpit Club last year.

According to Springs police spokesman Captain Johannes Ramphora, the man is alleged to be an illegal immigrant without any valid documentation.

“It makes it very difficult to track down a person who is without the necessary legal identification,” he adds.

Van Rensburg died from his injuries after an alleged argument in the club’s bathroom on May 29.

The victim was found in the bathroom of the club with stab wounds in the neck and abdomen.

The police followed a clue to Zambesi Drive in Pretoria last week relating to the possible killer, but it was not the man they were looking for.

Cpt Ramphora says they are still following every possible lead.

“We need the community to come forward if they have any information,” he adds.

Anyone with information regarding the case, can contact W/O Thabo Choue on 083 349 4518, the police station on 011 365 5700/19/20 or Capt Ramphora on 079 694 6936.
