The complaint was in connection with a leaking fire hydrant on Matruh Street, in Pollak Park.
According to Mthimunye, the matter had been reported to the metro on numerous occasions to no avail.
The first time it was reported was in July last year.
Upon investtigation, water could be seen running down the street and pooling in the potholes.
The fire hydrant is covered in overgrown grass and is leaking profusely.
Residents also complained about the potholes on Matruh Street.
Lebogang Ramashala, media officer for the metro, stated that the fire hydrant was checked and found to be leaking.
She said that the municipality has notified its contractor about the matter and they will attend to it by the end of this week.
It will replace the hydrant to stop it from leaking.
The Ekurhuleni municipality wishes to apologise for it taking this long to attend to the matter.
