Minke’s murderer still at large

No one has been arrested yet for the murder of Minke Aucamp who was shot at point blank range in her driveway in Eastvale, during a hijacking.

The 18-year-old girl was about to start her matric finals when she was shot on October 25, 2012.

Paramedics from various organisations worked on the scene to save her life before transporting her to a helicopter to be taken to a local hospital.

She, however, died on her way to the hospital.

Her silver Hyundai, in which the hijacker escaped, is yet to be found.

According to Springs police spokesman Captain Johannes Ramphora, no arrests have been made and the case is still pending.

He says the information the police have received over the past two years does not carry enough weight for an arrest.

Minke’s friends, teachers and the community were shocked at the news of her tragic death and the Department of Education provided counselling.

She was about to start her final matric exams at Dr Johan Jurgens High School when the hijacking took place.

According to Louis Hennings, spokesman for the CPF,  it is frustrating to know that no arrests have been made after almost two years.

“The R50 000 reward still stands to anyone with information.”

Ramphora says the case is still open and investigations continue to try to apprehend the perpetrator.
