The man allegedly raped a 23-year-old woman at his flat opposite the tavern in broad daylight.
Springs police spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora says the suspect invited the victim and her brother to the flat after drinking at the tavern. The victim’s brother allegedly left his sister alone with the suspect who started to rape her.
Ramphora says when the brother returned his sister alleged that she had been raped.
However, the victim only reported the case to the police on Tuesday.
“When the police arrived at the suspect’s flat they arrested the man,” says Ramphora.
He will appear in court soon.
