The owner of the vehicle was inside the house at 11am in Federal Street, and when he returned to his vehicle he saw three armed suspects near it.
SAPS spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora says when the suspects demanded the car keys, the owner became arrogant and refused to hand them over.

“One of the suspects fired a warning shot and ordered the owner to get away from the vehicle,” says Ramphora.
Four suspects were waiting in a white VW Polo and three suspects were inside a silver Hyundai Getz parked in the street at the time of the hijacking.

“We believe these two vehicles were used to drop off the three armed hijackers,” says Ramphora.
The suspects got into the vehicle and drove off, followed by the Polo and the Getz.
Inside the vehicle was the man’s Swaziland driver’s licence, his passport, two cellphones, a tablet and R3 000 in cash.
Ramphora says the owner was not injured, but when they investigated the scene, they found blood.
“We are not sure where the blood was coming from, but are still investigating,” he says.
A case of hijacking and attempted murder was opened at the police station.
